Latest info has revealed that Samsung has placed a sizeable order with Nvidia for Tegra 2 chips that will be delivered in the first half of 2011, for both tablets and smartphones from the company. Analysts have now predicted that the next Galaxy Tab will be one of the devices that use the Tegra 2 as its main processor.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 to Come with Tegra 2 & Honeycomb

The news generates much astonishment since Samsung was earlier supposed to have been developing its own dual-core chips. Many of the techie analysts have made agreeable statements regarding this.|Above all, it is also being said that Google has made Tegra the reference design for Android Honeycomb, the Android 3.0 (or 2.4?) OS. And now an official confirmation has confirmed that the next generation Samsung Galaxy Tab device will carry an Nvidia Tegra 2 chip as its main processor.

Tegra, in the meantime, has gained much popularity in the tablet world. By far it is reviewed as the best option.

Like Samsung’s Orion chip, the Tegra 2 is fabricated on a 45nm process using a version of ARM’s Cortex-A9 dual-core processor design. The Tegra 2 and the Orion chip share the same feature set as well.
